Slide is an add-on for the iD editor that iteratively refines ways (roads and paths) by leveraging high density corridors calculated from the 250 billion GPS data points uploaded to Strava, a fitness tracking website. The result is a smooth, properly sampled way in a fraction of the time. The way can then be verified and manually refined further before saving to OSM.
This technical talk will provide a demo of Slide, an overview of the algorithm and a discussion of other applications, such as merging in new generations of TIGER.
