Satellites and manned aircrafts have dominated the commercial imagery space for many years now. Recently however, there has been a shift and rise in smaller unmanned autonomous flying vehicles - drones - used in place of expensive and time consuming technologies. These UAV’s are able to be deployed faster, more dynamically and produce far more accurate results.
The OpenStreetMap community relies on up-to-date imagery to accurately trace features. As more users, organizations and companies begin to fly UAV’s the relationship between the map and these devices will become more apparent and stronger. This talk will dive deep into how far we have come and what the forecast looks like for the bond between OpenStreetMap and UAVs.
